A screening programme that celebrates contemporary Japanese motion culture

The latest survey of music videos, motion graphics and shorts from some of Japan’s finest moving image-makers and young talent in 2006. Contemporary Japanese moving image continues to be a diverse and rich breeding ground for new talents, forcing the more established creatives to be as inventive as ever. The work is increasingly popular and an inspiration to both audience and industry alike outside of Japan.

The range of animation styles continue to develop rapidly, with fresh talents flexing their creative muscles within and outside of their day jobs with personal projects, taking in visual innovation and adventurous narratives. It is this personal vision that will develop the scene in the future.

Artists include Hideyuki Tanaka, Taku Inoue, Furi Furi, Daisuke Hashimoto, Takagi Masakatsu, Makoto Sugawara, Alessandro Pacciani, Nagi Noda, Makoto Hanafusa, Hiroyuki Nakao, Shintarou Kishimoto, Satoshi Tomioka, Tayuta Mikage, Yasuhiro Yoshiura, and Le Pivot.
