l’ed emotion design at milan fashion week

onedotzero was commissioned by italian agency atilla&co for the milan fashion week launch of a new line of hand bags from l’ed emotion design

The brainchild of Italian design Sara Giunti, the L’ED Emotion Design concept combines traditional craftsmanship with technological progress: specifically with the integration an LED light which illuminates the contents of the bag when it is opened. The bags also feature a USB plug that can be used to recharge a phone, tablet, or digital camera.

Using the LED light of the bags as inspiration, onedotzero commissioned French artist Joanie Lemercier to create a site-specific installation at the Cardi Black Box Gallery called ‘Out of the Dark’. The piece played with geometric, three-dimensional physical elements similar to origami, illuminated by projection-mapped animations to heighten the brand's signature of bringing light to the dark.

The creative direction and play between light and dark continued within the event venue, through a dramatic and immersive environment design conceived in collaboration with Draisci Studio. Walls and floors were painted and carpeted in black, keeping the focus on the L’ED Emotion Design bags, positioned on custom made geometric plinths and mirrors. This emphasized the contrast of light and dark whilst balancing the art and design of the crafted accessories with the stunning installation by Joanie Lemercier.
