Spectrum #2

The second of two programmes which chart the highlights from a decade of progressive digital filmmaking. Curated from the archive in 2006 to celebrate onedotzero’s 10th anniversary

Spectrum is an attempt to chart the advances in desktop digital video between 1996 and 2006 with key productions, producers and moments that perhaps are a starting point for discussions on where the medium has come from, to where we are heading.

The two programmes give us a context that takes us from a fetishisation of technology to experiments in aesthetics with genuine attempts to create new forms of visual expression and new film languages – splicing ‘film’ into new forms of expression that do not fit preconceived and dated expectations.

Artists in this screening programme include Shynola, Chris Shepherd, Jonas Odell, Pleix, Ben Hibon, Tim Hope, Jake Knight, Shroom, +Cruz, Simon Robson, Grant Orchard, Dominic Hailstone and Logan.

With music from Plaid, Franz Ferdinand, Röyksopp, Hifana and Autechre.

Approximate run time: 85 minutes
