about wind to light
this experimental site-specific installation illustrates alternative, sustainable ways of harnessing energy that will explore the power of the wind in the city, visualising it as an ephemeral cloud of light.the installation is custom built, using 500 mini wind turbines to generate power, which illuminates hundreds of mounted leds, creating firefly-like fields of light, with wind visually interpreted as electronic patterns across the installation.

12 June 2007 - 11:08Word’s got out (and it’s press launch tonight)
The word’s out about “Wind To Light” and thinking about it, I hear it’s the press launch tonight! I hope it stays windy.
Interactive designer Andy Polaine has mentioned Wind To Light in his blog Playpen. He’s a London expat, now living in Offenburg, Germany. Andy says it reminds him, “…of White Noise/White Light installation by MIT’s J. Meejin Yoon a few years back”.
